Ron Paul and his supporters are in a battle for America. Sometimes, soldiers become injured by the enemy as a result of their struggle. Though such is to be expected, it is easier to bear than witnessing the same warrior being stabbed in the back by one of his own.
On May 15, Ron Paul’s campaign manager, his son in law Jesse Benton, made an official announcement that ripped a hole in the hearts of die hard supporters of renewed freedom in America. In essence, he stated that, barring a miracle that would allow Dr. Paul to compete economically with Romney’s support from the big bankers, it is impossible for him to compete successfully in states which employ a primary system to select presidential candidates. Because of that fact, it is not possible for Ron Paul to secure enough delegates to prevent Romney from receiving the nomination on the first vote at the Republican national convention in Tampa. The dream of a brokered convention is over.
Given Dr. Paul’s straightforward manner of operation, the fact that the announcement came, not from the candidate but his campaign manager instead, seemed odd. Even more curious was the timing of Benton’s proclamation. It occurred right in the middle of a fund raising operation. If Benton’s assertions about the campaign were true, suspending such a communication until the fundraiser had ended would appear to be the prudent course. Instead, the “Money Bomb” was sabotaged by the man charged with running the campaign.
As if things could become no stranger, Congressman Paul’s son, Rand Paul, made a stunning announcement: he is endorsing Mitt Romney. By that single utterance, Rand, who had at one time been assumed to be his fathers political heir apparent, effectively cut his own political throat. The GOP mainstream will always consider him to be a ‘kook,’ just as his father had been portrayed by the same group. Ron Paul supporters will never forgive Rand for his betrayal.
What could have caused such retreats from the front line at the moment that Dr. Paul’s campaign seemed to be picking up the most momentum? The anomalous situation makes one wonder, whether someone in the GOP Mafia threatened the lives of Dr. Paul’s family.
Regardless of the cause, one thing becomes clear enough to this author. The nation cannot be healed through the corrupt political process. Both main political parties are pushing the same agenda of totalitarian control of the populace. Both parties are drunk on the same dirty money and will do the bidding of those who control the bar. The can be no real movement towards liberty without violent revolution. This author is not advocating such action, only noting the truth of our situation.
Some will without any doubt, claim that violence is not a legitimate means for change, but they find themselves at odds with American history. If violent revolution is not a legitimate means for change, than this nation which was born of revolution, is likewise, illegitimate.
It is also this author’s belief, that Americans are too stupid and/or lazy to do what needs to be done to restore our liberty. They would rather see their children and elderly assaulted in our airports by Federal Agents, than refuse to fly commercial airlines. They would rather turn on the television than read a book. All they care about is their immediate comfort, not realizing that such comfort will be short lived.
The present government of the United States of America, stinks to Heaven. The people are too selfish and short sighted to care. That sums the situation up nicely in this author’s estimation.
This author will vote for Ron Paul, even if it means writing his name on the ballot. Better to vote for a good man than the lesser of two evils. For every liberty minded American, there can only be two choices for president of the United States: Ron Paul, or nobody at all.
